JMSE paper published on subtractive machining of a mechanism

A paper I co-authored with Roby Lynn and other colleagues at Georgia Tech, titled “Direct Digital Subtractive Manufacturing of a Functional Assembly Using Voxel-based Models”, appeared in the February issue of the ASME Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering. In this paper, we demonstrated how to design and build an assembly free functional mechanism (a ball joint) from a single stock, similarly to how additive technology is exploited.
