FEDERAL AND STATE INITIATIVES
Wind Powering America
Through this U.S. Department of Energy, Wind Powering America is a commitment to dramatically increase the use of wind energy in the United States. This initiative will establish new sources of income for American farmers, Native Americans, and other rural landowners, and meet the growing demand for clean sources of electricity.
The United States Offshore Wind Collaborative
The mission of the US Offshore Wind Collaborative is to address the technical, environmental, economic and regulatory issues necessary to catalyze the sustainable development of offshore wind energy in the waters of the United States.
Small Wind Certification Council
The Small Wind Certification Council, as an independent certification body, will certify that small wind turbines meet or exceed the performance, durability, and safety requirements of the Small Wind Turbine Performance and Safety Standard. This certification will provide a common North American standard for reporting turbine energy and sound performance, and help small wind technology gain mainstream acceptance.
WIND INDUSTRY INITIATIVES
American Wind Energy Association (AWEA)|
AWEA is a national trade association representing those involved in the wind industry and wind energy advocates from around the world. AWEA provides up to date information on current and new wind energy projects, companies in the wind energy field, technology development, and policy developments related to wind and other renewable energy development.
Ocean Renewable Energy Coalition
The Ocean Renewable Energy Coalition is the only national trade association exclusively dedicated to promoting marine and hydrokinetic energy technologies from clean, renewable energy resources, including wave, tidal, offshore wind, and ocean thermal technologies among others.
Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE)
SACE promotes responsible energy choices, including wind energy that ensure clean, safe and healthy communities throughout the Southeast. This organization assists state energy offices in the region to help coordinate wind working group initiatives.
The National Audubon Society
Audubon conserves and restores natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biological diversity. Audubon supports properly-sited wind power as a clean alternative energy source that reduces the threat of climate change.
Windustry promotes progressive renewable energy solutions and empowers communities to develop and own wind energy as an environmentally friendly sustainable asset. Through member supported outreach, education and advocacy, this organization works to remove the barriers to broad community ownership of wind energy.
