Dr. Irizarry’s research interests include construction safety, HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) issues in mobile applications for AEC information access, Situation Awareness driven information system design, interactive visualization systems for AEC education, role-based decision support systems, and unmanned aerial systems applications in infrastructure management.

Sungjin Kim is a Ph.D. candidate and graduate research assistant at CONECTech lab, Georgia Institute of Technology. He is working with Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) in order to analyze the implication of Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) on GDOT’s operations. He is also focusing on the development of the data exchange system between BIM and UAS  on construction environments. His main research areas include Human-Robot/Computer Interaction (HRI or HCI), Construction Visualization, Data Exchange and Analytics, Construction Automation, and Human Cognitive Performance in the AEC.

Daniel Paes is a Ph.D. student and graduate research assistant at CONECTech lab, Georgia Institute of Technology. His research focuses on the application of Immersive Virtual Reality systems for advanced visualization within design and construction processes. His main areas of interest are: Virtual reality systems, Immersive environments, Collaborative virtual environments, Human-computer interaction, Building Information Modeling, Cognition and perception in the design process, Knowledge representation and management, Ontologies for construction, Design management.

 Mohammad Ali

Mohammad Ali is a Master student and graduate research assistant at CONECTech lab, Georgia Institute of Technology. The objective of his assistantship is to enhance interaction between the school of building construction and on-campus construction projects. At the CONECTech lab, he works on developing a framework that uses coordinate data from BIM (building information models) to automate UAV missions. His research focuses on the application of UAS in construction, construction automation, VDC (virtual design and construction) and autonomous flight paths.

Claudia Calderon Hernandez is a Master student at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru in Lima and a visiting intern at CONECTech lab, Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research focuses on the use of Augmented/Virtual reality for building construction integrated with the Lean Construction philosophy. Her main areas of interest are: application of technologies for the different stages of a construction project, Lean Project Delivery System, laser scanning and photogrammetry and working with point clouds on BIM.

Aline Valverde Arrotéia is a Ph.D. Student at the Polytechnic School of the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil and a visiting studetn at CONECTech Lab, Georgia Tech. Her research focuses on alternatives for the adoption of Building Information Modeling processes into design teaching methodologies. Her main areas are: Building Information Modeling, Design Teaching, Parametric Design, Digital Fabrication, Design Management, Design and Building Construction Interfaces.
