Dr. Chaitanya Deo is a Professor in the GWW School of Mechanical Engineering with a courtesy appointment in the School of Materials Science and Engineering. He earned a dual PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering and Scientific Computing from the University of Michigan.
His academic interests lie at the intersection of nuclear engineering and materials science and are concerned with understanding structure property relationships in materials used in nuclear technologies and in extreme environments using computational tools and targeted experiments. Significant research accomplishments include deepening the understanding of metallic Uranium and Uranium Zirconium alloys through the development and use of interatomic potential descriptions of atomic interactions in these materials.
